Frozen, The Power Of Love Between Sisters

Since its world premiere in 2013, Frozen managed to capture the attention of the public and make itself heard through the popular ” Let it go ”.
Frozen, the strength of love between sisters

Frozen is a Disney movie that has broken many of the factory’s schemes. It is the story of two sisters that does not focus solely on romantic love.

What is most striking about this animated feature film is that brotherly love prevails in the face of adversity. On the other hand, princesses do not respond to the typical roles of fairy tales.

In the myth, an evil ice queen kidnaps a boy, who will be rescued by a friend of hers, Gerda. The girl has to go through endless dangers to save her friend, although she is helped by a set of diverse characters.

Due to its dark background and the little receptivity that the audience would have, the original idea was discarded. Even so, in the 2013 film we can still find many characteristics similar to those of The Snow Queen.

Frozen: the ice kingdom

Frozen tells us the story of Elsa and Ana, the princesses of the kingdom of Arendelle. Elsa has the power to freeze everything she touches, and after accidentally injuring Ana, she decides to isolate herself. Ana does not remember the incident and believes that her sister does not love her.

After the death of her parents Elsa takes the throne. Ana decides to marry a handsome prince (Hans) whom she has just met, but Elsa does not approve of the marriage. In a fit of fear, her powers spiral out of control and she is exposed to present society. The Duke of Wesselton, the prince’s uncle, accuses her of being a monster and she runs away.

Ana plucks up her courage and goes in search of her sister. Along the way he will have the help of a young ice collector, Kristoff and his reindeer Sven. Together they will live endless adventures and meet the snowman Olaf. When they finally find Elsa, she accidentally hurts her sister again.

Kristoff takes her back home to the prince, unaware that Hans is actually an evil villain. The only way for Ana to recover is for someone to perform an act of love towards her and Prince Hans refuses outright. When the deception is discovered, Elsa confronts Hans.

When Elsa is about to be killed by Hans, Ana reappears and stands between them. Right at that instant, it turns into an ice sculpture. Elsa realizes her sister’s great act of love and hugs her, which manages to break the curse.

Vital Lessons from Frozen

The message that underlies the main plot of Frozen is that brotherly love is magical, unique and special. A sister can teach a life lesson in two ways:

  1. A sister reminds us that romantic love is not everything in life.
  2. There is no need to idealize romantic love or run after it. Everything comes in due time.
  3. The sisters are there to love each other, support each other and overcome adversity.

Within the love theme is also Kristoff. He represents real love, with its flaws and its shadows. Although we can appreciate the attraction between him and Ana, she refuses to acknowledge and accept his feelings. Kristoff and his appearance do not correspond to his perception of what love is.

In the same way , the value of sacrifice and the need for self-control are emphasized, lessons that Elsa will have a hard time learning. She is perhaps the loneliest character in the movie, and the one who enjoys loneliness the most.

Despite your need for independence, your point of view will change in the end. You will discover that it is possible to maintain your autonomy without having to isolate yourself from the world. It is enough that there is good communication with others and that they respect our tastes.

Those who really love us will appreciate our way of being. And if it is a brother or sister, they will not only appreciate our peculiarities but will also admire them.
