Attention: Avoid Lowering The Skin Of The Penis Of Boys

Attention: avoid lowering the skin of boys' penis

Although women’s lives can be more complicated from the beginning, at birth, men do not have all of them with them. The issue of the foreskin and possible phimosis complicates mom’s life only in the first few days. For a long time this was not resolved until it was necessary, however, recently there are new practices.

Many doctors and health personnel, have chosen to lower the skin of the penis of babies, very early. The action is to pull the skin until maximum resistance is achieved. There may be a lot of pain, blood, and forced friction, but they think this will fix potential problems later.

When the specialists appear, they consider that this step, even if it is a bit unpleasant for the little one, would avoid greater evils. To begin with, they would save a potential surgery in case the skin does not shed naturally. Likewise, they are convinced that it is a process that will not affect you at all after it heals.

How does it affect the boy to lower the skin of the penis prematurely?

According to an article by pediatrician JM Garat, called “Conservative management of the foreskin”, everything depends on the evolution of each child. According to his experience, the skin of the penis can be lowered from birth, at an incidence of 4%. However, others must wait even up to 5 years, where the largest population is found with 92%.

Between two and three years, some pediatricians are already concerned about the delay in retraction, which leads to a premature diagnosis of phimosis. According to Garat, 50% of children can retract the foreskin at 12 months of age. Between two and three years, they are between 75% and 90% respectively. That is, not all cases are the same. Therefore, it is necessary to wait and see how they evolve.

For example, since 4% of babies can retract the foreskin from birth, there is no problem with being forced to do so by doctors. However, taking into account that 90% of children must wait until they are 5 years old, then it is totally inadvisable to force them prematurely.

Although each party believes they have some reason, spontaneous evolution seems to be the best option. Being patient, preparing the area and waiting for the right moment is convenient for everyone. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid doctors or nurses doing anything with the baby’s penis.

The foreskin retraction process

A study of Japanese children in 1996 indicates that the body is preparing to solve this from the beginning. At birth the skin of the penis begins to evolve in order to avoid possible phimosis. However, there must be a stop to maintain the protection of the glans and avoid possible infections.

As we know, in contact with urine and feces it can cause infections in the glans if it is left without its natural protection. That is why there is a fairly tight ring that prevents the skin from being pulled easily. Consequently, it can only be jerked around, causing wounds that are later annoying scars. Therefore, physiologically, the process that makes foreskin retraction possible occurs, when it is ready.

According to the aforementioned study, 40% of the children at one year of age still had this ring. It is only with the years that it begins to decline. In addition, there are adhesions of the skin to the glans, which take time to disappear and should not be forcibly detached. It was obtained that between 6 and 7 years, 73% of children can still have certain adhesions. However, in these cases it is not considered phimosis, that is, you can still wait for them to subside.

The most advisable thing is to lower the skin little by little in each bath, gently and without expecting it to give too much. Depending on the child, there will be more or less adhesions that hinder this evolution. The truth is that we can still wait a long time, without being able to talk about needing surgery.
