After nine months of pregnancy we have reached that wonderful day of meeting our baby. Everything is going to be great, so here are the X tips for the day of delivery, so that you just enjoy the experience and can relax.

10 tips for the day of delivery

The Maternity Bag

The due date for delivery is approaching, you must think about what you have to bring to the clinic. Ideally, a month before you have everything ready. Thus, if the labor begins outside the home and you are forced to enter quickly, someone will be able to approach the house and take the bag.

It is important that it is quite large, since you have to carry all your things and those of your baby. You can buy them in most children’s clothing stores, or in large stores.

However, if you don’t want to invest a lot of money, a large gym bag that you have at home will do just as well.

The documentation

Before leaving home, check that you have all the appropriate documentation, that moment is not the ideal time to check that you have everything. A good tip: prepare it weeks in advance of going out of business, or even the month before.

Ideally, you should save everything when you prepare the maternity bag. You cannot forget: identification document, health card and all the reports that the doctors have given you during pregnancy: ultrasounds, tests, medication, etc.

The basket

In public hospitals they give you everything you need, both for the mother and the baby. But in private clinics this is not the case, the mother must bring what she will need both for herself and for the child.

For us we must bring: a nightgown with buttons in front to facilitate breastfeeding, breastfeeding bras, underwear, toiletry bag, slippers and comfortable clothes to leave the clinic. For our newborn: Pajamas, bodysuits, diapers, wipes, soap, moisturizing cream, pacifier, butt cream, hat, mittens, shawl and clothes for the outing.

The technology

The mobile is very important and your charger too. When you have your precious baby, you will have to communicate it to the family. Nothing better than a selfie for it. You will also receive many calls to congratulate you.

Beauty before anything else

Although it seems silly, it is very important to go to the hairdresser the days before.

When you have the baby with you, you will receive many visits in the hospital and “be presentable” long ago. In addition, hair removal is also basic.

Doctors are not going to look at your legs, but it is not the same, you also have to bear in mind that until you can wax again it will be a long time, since the postpartum is going to be hard …

Nor can you forget to wear your hair in a ponytail, since they will put a cap on you in the operating room. Good advice: use dry shampoo.

No cosmetic products

Ideally, before going to the hospital, you should shower with a neutral soap.

Do not use any cream for the body, as it could make it difficult for the doctors if they had to do a more serious intervention, and have to go into the operating room.

In addition, you should not wear painted nails, since if the situation gets complicated and your blood oxygen level drops sharply, the color of your nails will change and the doctors will check it.

On the other hand, if these are painted with an enamel it would be impossible.

The photographic camera

It is becoming more and more common to immortalize the special moments of our lives for posterity and, without a doubt, the birth of a child is one of those episodes.

In most private clinics there is a photographer who offers you the “book” there in the same room, although it is usually quite expensive.

So if you do not opt for this option, surely your partner can take some very beautiful photos.

Eat and drink before

pregnant woman eating healthy

Some bread or skimmed yogurt, fruit, juice …

The conclusions of a recent study cast doubt on the general recommendation not to eat during the dilation period.

It is suggested that women with low-risk pregnancies can safely eat a light diet in the moments before delivery.

The travel plan

It is necessary to think with your partner, the shortest way to get to the hospital where you have decided to give birth.

Probably at dawn you will not find a lot of traffic, but if the delivery begins in the middle of the “rush hour” there may be a big traffic jam, and alternative routes can be suggested.

Between 1% and 2% of births begin without the mother noticing contractions.

If it happens to you and you don’t have time to get to the hospital, ask for help, call 112.

Kindness

That the day of delivery arrives and the woman ignores practically all the procedures to which she is going to be subjected, is a situation that is beginning to disappear in health centers.

One of the most applauded and demanded protocols by women in labor is known as “skin to skin”, which consists in that as soon as the baby is born it rests in the mother’s body during its first hours of life.

This process lasts half an hour in which the little one is probably already trying to start feeding, favoring breastfeeding.

It is also very important to be kind to the midwives and all the health personnel, who are in the hospital since each and everyone does their job so that everything goes great.

And since you have everything ready … we wish you good luck.
